Firstly they were handed an upper jab by the Reserve Bank Monetary Policy Committee when the repo rate was increased by 25 basis points, then they received a powerful left hook with the announcement of yet another fuel price increase. The R3 hike now takes the fuel price to the never-seen-before level of over R30 per litre! Punch-drunk consumers will now have to find even more ways of stretching their hard-earned Rands to make ends meet.
