Dear Friends, Property Investors and Enthusiasts
August has been an exciting month with Local Elections and the Olympic Games taking place in the same month! We are extremely proud of the 10 Medals the South African athletes brought home – with all hail to our top achievers Wade van Niekerk and Caster Semenya bringing home the Gold!We’re a sporting nation and when we see our sportsmen and women achieving success it always seems to spark positivity in the air, which helps to bring South Africans closer together!
On the political front huge change is taking place, with the majority of people who made their voting mark and only a few citizens choosing not to put pen to paper. With no outright majorities being achieved by any party in a fair number of Municipalities, coalitions are being formed, and the DA has been able to elect Mayors in several of the large Metros. All citizens want an improvement in service delivery and a stop to corruption thereby creating a better place in which we can all live and work. It is also very clear from the past election - and encouraging - that 25 years after the fall of apartheid, democracy has proved to be working and, as in sport, strong opposition amongst political parties will only serve to strengthen it. Whatever our political affiliation, we surely must all agree with Julius Malema’s statement on National TV News recently…“We need politicians to serve the people and the Country and not themselves”!
